Willow House is excited to host its 12th Annual Walk and 5K Run to Remember, with a slight twist! This year’s event will include a week-long family-friendly virtual Walk and Run, followed by an in-person Drive to Remember on September 27, 2020.


About Willow House

Willow House is a non-profit, social service organization whose sole mission is to support children, families, schools and communities who are coping with grief and the death of a loved one. 

Founded in 1998, Willow House is the only independent organization in the state of Illinois solely dedicated to supporting this population. Our mission is based on the belief that no child or family should ever grieve alone.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, Willow House services are provided at no cost to families.

Week to Remember


Mon-Fri (9/21 - 9/25)Virtual Activities

Join us for a week full of music, games, crafts and other virtual activities for all ages! Stay tuned for more information coming soon.


Mon-Sun (9/21 - 9/27)Virtual Walk

Enjoy a peaceful memorial walk with immediate family or socially distanced friends at a location of your choosing.


Mon-Sun (9/21 - 9/27)Virtual 5K

Run in the annual Willow House 5K, but this year do it virtually! Create a team, run solo, or with family and friends...just pick your favorite spot, lace up your shoes, and go!


Sunday (9/27)Drive to Remember

Join us for this moving, signature event featuring a socially distanced drive along a scenic path lined with hand-crafted memory markers honoring and memorializing loved ones who have died. The Drive to Remember will be held at the North Shore Unitarian Church in Bannockburn mile east of Willow House), from 2-4pm.

    REFUNDS AND CANCELLATION
    All entries are final. No refunds, transfers, or deferments.

    I (we) the registrant(s) understand that in the event that the event is canceled or postponed as a result of (and not limited to) an weather, natural disaster, state of emergency, war, lack or failure of venue, laws or interventions or actions of statutory bodies, major accidents during the race, or other such causes, the registrant acknowledges that NO REFUND or CREDIT will be granted.

    PARTICIPANT & VOLUNTEER WAIVER FOR REGISTRATION

    ​I am a participant over 18 years of age, or the parent/legal guardian of minor under 18 years of age.

    I know that participating or volunteering in a walk or running race is potentially hazardous activity, which could cause injury or death. I will not enter and participate unless I am medically able and properly trained, and by my electronic signature (agreeing to the terms), I certify that I am medically able to perform this event, and am in good health, and I am properly trained. I agree to abide by any decision of a race official relative to any aspect of my participation in this event, including the right of any official to deny or suspend my participation for any reason whatsoever. I attest that I have read the rules of the race and agree to abide by them. I assume all risks associated with running or walking in this event, including but not limited to: falls, contact with other participants and non-participants, the effects of the weather, including high heat and/or humidity, traffic and the conditions of the road, all such risks being known and appreciated by me.

    Having read this waiver and knowing these facts and in consideration of your accepting my entry, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release Willow House and all event sponsors, their representatives and successors from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event, and any pre- and post-event activities, even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons named in this waiver. I grant permission to all of the foregoing to use my photographs, motion pictures, recordings or any other record of this event for any legitimate purpose, including commercial advertising, without monetary payment to me. I agree to assume responsibility for my child/ren during the entire event.

    I agree to abide by all local and state mandates related to COVID-19 as it relates to my participation in this event. I understand the hazards of the novel coronavirus (“COVID-19”) and am familiar with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”) guidelines regarding COVID-19. I acknowledge and understand that the circumstances regarding COVID-19 are changing from day to day and that, accordingly, the CDC guidelines are regularly modified and updated and I accept full responsibility for familiarizing myself with the most recent updates.

    Participant safety has always been, and will continue to be, a top priority for this event.
